How to Choose a Web Designer

Updated: Jan 20, 2023

Choosing the right web designer is one of the first big decisions you have to make and while I'd love you choose my company, I understand everyone has different needs. It pains me to say too many clients come to me after a bad experience with another designer so I want to share with you a few of the most critical things to look for in choosing the right designer.

Reputation: It is important to see how many reviews an agency has and for how long they have sustained their level of service. It is just as important to read the reviews so you know what to expect. For over 4 years, Starting Gate Marketing has earned 5-star reviews every time for over 200 projects. Even more important, I pride myself in understanding each clients unique needs and personality and strive to make each client fell like they are my only client. I just don't build websites, I help lay the foundation for future success.

Price: If price is the most important part of your decision making process please be careful to not sacrifice quality. Compare proposals first and never say yes to anyone until you have at least three quotes. Look at the overall value each company brings to the project and make sure you are a good fit. Ask questions about their client intake process and do not be afraid to ask tough questions. Ask about their charges for ongoing support. You are interviewing them for a job and will be working with them extensively.

Business Savvy: There are many great web designers, but a website is so much more than design, it's your business and it's critical for a designer to quickly understand your business and be able to provide guidance on growing your business. The Starting Gate Marketing team has over 40 years of executive level experience with national brands in retail, marketing and advertising. View my LinkedIn Profile
